In an urban context, there are neglected spaces such as alleys or plazas, that are unused or forgotten. However, I strongly believe that even small interventions with a little resource are a way to bring these spaces back to life. When making interventions to an existing site, it is important to think in the realm of the building but also the urban landscape, as it is important to perceive the importance of social and environmental responsibility of propagating an architectural concept in space. The intervention of the neglected alleys in Rome aim to develop innovative design solutions in relation to its position on campus, presenting a novel experience for the students and pedestrians that walk through this space.
By investigating issues that arise in this dark and narrow stairs, I explored my gestures in various typologies and scales, playing with the concept of creating an exterior public space that indwells interior qualities, ultimately, blurring the boundaries of those two.
